Optimus Robot Revealed at Tesla AI Day by Elon Musk.

Elon Musk presented the Optimus Robot at Tesla AI Day.  With an expected cost of less than $20,000 these robots could find their way into many homes.

Robot Quotes

  • “If the Tesla Bot does to the robot industry what the Tesla car did to the automotive industry, we are in for a wild ride of new innovation.” ~Dave Waters
  • “I’m interested in things that change the world or that affect the future and wondrous, new technology where you see it, and you’re like, ‘Wow, how did that even happen? How is that possible?’” ~ Elon Musk.
  • “So the goal of OpenAI is really just to take the set of actions that are most likely to improve the positive futures.  Like, if you can think of like the future as a set of probability streams that branch out and then converge; collapse down to a particular event and then branch out again and there’s a certain set of probabilities associated with the future being positive and a different type flavors of that and at OpenAI we want to try to guide…  do whatever we can to increase the probability of the good futures happening.” ~Elon Musk, Tesla CEO.
  • “Let’s start with the three fundamental Rules of Robotics…. We have: one, a robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Two, a robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. And three, a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.” ~Isaac Asimov
  • Robots are being programmed to feel pain and react to it — just like humans do. The incredible advance sees an artificial robot nervous system being trained to react to pain messages to save themselves from danger. The project, headed up by scientists from Leibniz University of Hannover, presents an about-face in terms of robotic design for some. Long thought to be useful for the very reason that they did not feel pain — allowing them to perform unpleasant, dangerous tasks without issue — researchers believe a system to recognise pain will help preserve robots.” ~Kirstie McCrum
  • “If people trust artificial intelligence (AI) to drive a car, people will most likely trust AI to do your job.” ~Dave Waters
  • “With regard to robots, in the early days of robots people said, ‘Oh, let’s build a robot’ and what’s the first thought? You make a robot look like a human and do human things. That’s so 1950s. We are so past that.” ~Neil deGrasse Tyson
