Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO, is an entrepreneur, investor, and startup mentor based in Silicon Valley. He is best known for his work as the president of Y Combinator, one of the world’s most successful startup incubators.

Altman was born in 1985 in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Stanford University, where he studied computer science. He dropped out of college in 2005 to start his own startup, Loopt, a location-based social networking app that was eventually acquired by Green Dot Corporation.

After Loopt, Altman continued to work as an entrepreneur and investor, co-founding several other startups including Hydrazine Capital and OpenAI. In 2014, he was named the president of Y Combinator, succeeding co-founder Paul Graham in the role.

As the president of Y Combinator, Altman oversaw the development of dozens of successful startups, including Airbnb, Dropbox, and Stripe. He is also known for his work as an angel investor, with a portfolio that includes companies such as Reddit, Asana, and Docker.

Outside of his work in the tech industry, Altman is also known for his philanthropy and political activism. He has donated to a number of charitable causes, including basic income experiments and research into anti-aging technologies, and has been involved in efforts to address issues such as climate change and income inequality.
